The first film of Russian distribution in the new year 2020 was the tape of Fyodor Bondarchuk's "Invasion". It continues - and possibly ends - the story that began in the 2017 “Attraction” tape. Bondarchuk again personally led the filming process and gathered the main castes of the previous part: Irina Starshenbaum, Rinal Mukhametov, Alexander Petrov and Oleg Menshikov.

Almost three years have passed since the release of the first film, and filmmakers begin the narration by repeating its best shots in beautiful graphic design. Summarize this selection of "plots" of television channels from around the world that the Earth is ready for the new arrival of aliens.

Fedor Bondarchuk emphasizes that the “Invasion” is an independent story that will be interesting to those who have not seen the “Attraction”. Nevertheless, to immediately understand some plot twists and jokes, a brief digression is not enough. An unprepared viewer, of course, learns about everything - but after the fact. So for the sake of completeness, it is better to familiarize yourself with the plot of the previous tape.

The main character Julia Lebedeva is no longer a schoolgirl, but a student; her manners and appearance give out the status of general’s daughter. Lebedeva is studying at Moscow State University, her classmate (now a classmate) nicknamed Google, who, ironically, works at Rostelecom, and a group of security guards are still following her.

These measures are necessary, since Julia was in contact with the alien, and now participates in the classified scientific program as a test subject. Scientists are trying to understand the nature of its interaction with water and thereby find out how the alien exoskeleton that fell into the possession of the Ministry of Defense works.

Soon the owner of the artifact appears, telling everyone he meets that he has a job, a house and a vegetable garden. Hakon-Khariton (Rinal Mukhametov) seems too naive, but since he is an alien and only recently got acquainted with local realities, such an interpretation of the image is quite justified.

Finally, a trio of protagonists will reunite after the escape of Artyom (Alexander Petrov) from under the convoy. He also participated in experiments on Julia as an irritant, and from the moment the events described in the first film ended, he was recovering from a stroke and was serving a term for attempted murder.

The cast of the film was supplemented by Yuri Borisov (“Bull”, “Young Guard”). By the way, he auditioned for the role of Hakon, but now he plays the employee of the Russian army, the closest assistant Valentin Lebedev (Oleg Menshikov).

Events are still unfolding in Moscow. Interestingly, if in “Attraction” the capital was represented mainly by the example of Chertanovo, now the action is transferred closer to the center. But not historical, but business: in the frame you can see White Square, Moscow City, the skyscraper of Moscow State University.

The heroine is in danger: she is hunted by artificial intelligence named Ra (it seems that soon the name of the ancient Egyptian god will be fixed to alien antagonists), who arrived from the world of Hakon. Ra intends to destroy Julia before her new power gets out of hand, and launches a full-scale military campaign in two actions.

First of all, Ra uses his ability to generate any images and sounds, and this in every way misleads earthlings. So people believe that they are getting a call to find and neutralize the terrorist Yulia Lebedev from reputable media or from relatives. In such circumstances, you can not believe in television, nor the Internet, nor mobile communications - therefore, Moscow is switching to newspapers, landlines and cable signal transmission.

This information war is frightening, first of all, by the fact that it looks very believable: hypothetically, our earthly technologies will someday reach a comparable level of development, which means that humanity is not immune from threats of this kind.

After viewing the viewers, they may not want to disconnect the smartphone forever, but the desire will be more attentive to the protection of personal data.

The second part of the operation is a flood covering the center of the capital. The theme of water, its creative and destructive power, set in the “Attraction”, is expected to continue. Now viewers are faced with a purely fantastic, but spectacular plot.

The film crew did not rely solely on computer graphics - actress Irina Starshenbaum was specially diving to act in underwater scenes. Also in the tape you can see some of the advanced developments of the Russian Ministry of Defense - military equipment that organically combines with the futuristic style of the film.

In general, the visual component of the picture is maintained at a decent level, however - which cannot but rejoice - the semantic component in it nevertheless comes to the fore: the tape keeps the viewer in suspense due to the psychological burden of rich action scenes. There is a central humanist idea in the Invasion. It lies in the fact that it is the best qualities of people - compassion and love of humanity - that distinguish them from machines, and a rational choice is far from always perfect from a moral point of view.
