A zoo director in the Swiss city of Zurich said today, Wednesday, that a crocodile was killed after he grabbed the hand of a zoo guarder between his jaws.

The accident occurred while the guard was trying to clean his barn.

When she removed the Filipino crocodile from the area, he applied to her hands and did not leave it for several minutes.

The zoo director, Alex Ruypel, said the zoo decided to kill the 1.5-meter-long animal weighing 15 kg to save the guard.

The guard is still receiving treatment at the hospital today, Wednesday.

The Philippine crocodile is a rare species, with only 250 crocodiles left in the wild.
