Two people died in a tunnel in Banetsu Expressway Dec. 21 20:58
According to the Niigata Prefectural Police Headquarters, around 3:30 pm on the 21st, an accident involving a total of 5 vehicles, including large trailers, aerial work vehicles, and passenger cars, in the Komatsu Tunnel on the Banetsu Expressway in Agano City, Niigata Prefecture. There were two men and women who were considered elderly and were transported to the hospital, but both were confirmed dead.
As a result of this accident, the Banetsu Expressway has been closed to traffic between the Yasuda Interchange and the Tsugawa Interchange in Niigata Prefecture.
