Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin expected the US Senate to block measures to isolate US President Donald Trump.

In his annual press conference, Putin pointed out that Trump's Republican party has a majority in the Senate.

"It is highly unlikely that they would want to isolate the party's representative in power for reasons that in my opinion are completely fabricated," Putin said.

He said the Democratic Party is seeking revenge for losing the presidential election to Trump.

He added: "The party that lost the elections, the Democratic Party, is achieving results in other ways, accusing Trump of collusion with Russia, and then it turned out that there was no such collusion."

The US House of Representatives voted yesterday to formally press charges against Trump.

Trump faces charges of abusing his position by urging Ukraine to discredit his political opponent, Joe Biden, and by hinting at withholding aid.
