The dentist who was arrested on suspicion of unqualified treatment

The Nagoya District Public Prosecutor's Office did not prosecute the director of a clinic in Nagoya City who was arrested for having been treated by a dental hygienist without a dentist's license and then released.

A 78-year-old director of the Higashi-ku Dental Clinic, Nagoya City, had a 50-year-old dental hygienist without a dentist's license to perform a medical act such as shaving his teeth. Together with this dental hygienist, he was arrested on suspicion of violating the dentist's law and fraud as he cheated his attire medical treatment fee.

The Nagoya District Public Prosecutor's Office released the director of the hospital with pending disposition, but made no charges. The reason for non-prosecution is not disclosed.

On the other hand, dental hygienists have already been prosecuted for violating the Clinical Radiologists Act and fraud.
