The military court in Egypt on Wednesday sentenced to death the hanging of the terrorist, Hisham Ashmawy, in the case known as the "Farafra case".

Ashmawy was sentenced to death after being convicted of several crimes, including participating in the targeting of former Interior Minister Major General Mohamed Ibrahim by monitoring his motorcade, photographing him and planning to assassinate him.A member of the terrorist organization would carry out the operation as a suicide bomber in the car bomb and detonate it as the convoy passes.

Ashmawy's crimes also included his involvement in planning and executing the targeting of merchant ships in the Suez Canal during the second half of 2013.

He was also convicted of involvement in the smuggling of a member of Ansar Beit al-Maqdis, known as Abu Asmaa, from inside a government hospital in Ismailia, after he was injured by shrapnel in his body, which was guarded by police guards, in conjunction with other members of the terrorist organization.

Investigations also showed that Ashmawy took over the leadership of the above-mentioned terrorist group as a successor to Abu Muhammad Musallam.He used the "free hunting tactic" during the second half of 2013 to move a car on various roads within the scope of the Second Army and target military vehicles while moving with firearms. .

The court revealed that Ashmawy targeted one of the military vehicles in which five members of the armed forces were traveling while traveling on the new Salhiya road.He also targeted another military vehicle in which an officer, a former recruiter and four soldiers were traveling when he was traveling on the new Salhiya road with the same tactic.

The terrorist also targeted a tanker carrying an M60 tank on the Cairo-Ismailia road. He also targeted a military vehicle in which an officer and a recruiter were traveling while traveling on the Cairo-Ismailia road. Individuals will destroy these cars.

The court confirmed that Ashmawy, along with other members of the terrorist organization, targeted a number of security buildings in Ismailia by a car bomb on October 9, 2013.

The court also revealed that Ashmawy took over the leadership of “Ansar Beit al-Maqdis Organization” after the murder of the terrorist “Abu Obeida” and before moving with his members from the mountainous area of ​​Ain Sokhna to the Western Sahara. It was initially stationed in the Bweiti area and then moved east of the Farafra border post.

Investigations also revealed Ashmawy's involvement in monitoring and reconnaissance and the development of a plan to target and carry out the terrorist attack on the Farafra border post, killing all its officers and personnel, and detonating its weapons and ammunition tank on July 19, 2014.

The court stated that Ashmawy targeted a civilian police ambush in Abu Sweir area, and then infiltrated into Libyan territory, accompanied by some elements of the organization, and set up a cell under the legitimacy of "Ansar al-Sharia" in the city of Ajdabiya belonging to the intellectual reference of al-Qaeda. He also founded the Al-Murabitoun movement, affiliated with al-Qaeda.

Egypt received Ashmawy in May during a lightning visit by Major General Abbas Kamel, the director of Egyptian intelligence, to Libya.

The Libyan army said in a statement that "the terrorist Hesham Ashmawy, who headed one of the terrorist organizations in the city of Darnah, has been handed over and carried out a number of terrorist operations in the countries of Libya and Egypt," adding that the Libyan army arrested Ashmawy during the liberation of Darnah, adding that he was handed over after completing all procedures and completion Interrogations by the Libyan Armed Forces.
