Former self-government minister Katsuhiko Shirakawa died November 22, 16:28

Former member of the House of Representatives Katsuhiko Shirakawa, who served as a minister of self-government, died in Tokyo due to renal failure this month. I was 74 years old.

Mr. Shirakawa was born in Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture, graduated from the University of Tokyo and became a lawyer.

During this time, he served as Minister of Autonomy and National Public Safety Commissioner for the Second Hashimoto Cabinet.

He lost his election in the House of Representatives election in 2000 and left the Liberal Democratic Party to establish the “New Party, Freedom and Hope”. He entered the House of Councilor election in 2001, but did not win.

Mr. Shirakawa subsequently worked as a lawyer, and in 2015 received the Asahi Daisho Award.
