As the opening ceremony for the ABU = Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly, which includes more than 70 countries and regional broadcasting organizations, has been held in Tokyo, the use of the Internet has expanded and the environment surrounding the media has changed dramatically in each country. Discussions are underway.

The ABU General Assembly was held in Tokyo, and approximately 500 people from countries and regions mainly in Asia participated in the venue.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Sanae Takaichi greeted, “The role played by broadcasting is important even as the use of the Internet expands.

Subsequently, NHK Chairman Ryoichi Ueda, chairman of ABU, said, “The environment surrounding the broadcasting industry has changed drastically due to the Internet, and viewers are seeking diverse and high-quality viewing experiences.”

After that, images with the motifs of Japan's four seasons were projected on the stage using the “projection mapping” technique, which enlivened the venue.

The general meeting will be held until the 22nd, and discussions will be held on the theme of "Challenge to various viewing experiences" and "Trusted media".
