Venice is battling flooding in Italy's highest tsunami in 50 years, sinking a number of landmarks such as St. Mark's Square, one of the lowest in the city.

The water level reached 1.87 meters above sea level, the second highest level ever recorded in the city and 7 cm below the historic 1966 flood.
