On the 31st of last month, a large-scale fire broke out in Shuri Castle in Naha City, and the movement of support for reconstruction is spreading.

Among them, Ryukyu classical musician Kazuo Nakamura (73), who was certified as a “human treasure”, called for donations in Toshima Ward, Tokyo on the 13th.

Mr. Nakamura from Kumejima Town has begun training the Sanshin and Sakai in earnest from his twenties, and has since been energetically working with his successors.

On the 13th, an accredited celebration was held, and about 40 people gathered from Okinawa Prefecture who lived in Tokyo.

At the party, Mr. Nakamura performed “Shurijou Hymn” with a view of the scenery seen from Shuri Castle, which he composed himself.

After that, Mr. Nakamura held a donation box and called for donations to rebuild Shuri Castle.

Mr. Nakamura said, “I have an unbearable feeling. I would like to cooperate with you and rebuild it.”

The person who raised the fund also said, “I was sad because I was glad to have recovered after the war. I hope I can restore it while I am alive.”

Mr. Nakamura will donate the donation to Okinawa Prefecture and will perform a charity performance for reconstruction in Urasoe City, Okinawa Prefecture on the 9th of next month.
