Two administrators and five editors / publishers disappear from Nature & Culture and the subsidiary for digital learning materials, Digilär, gets rid of two services, writes Svensk Bokhandel.

In addition, additional services that are not replaced disappear. For example, with natural departures, such as pensions, says Per Almgren, CEO of Nature & Culture, for the Swedish Bookstore.

The background to the notification is a declining market for all three publishing sections: general literature, teaching materials and academic, according to Per Almgren.

- On the teaching aids side, and especially on the physical part, there has been a decline for two years. It has been accentuated this year while we have had a downturn on the general literary side. Previously, there has been a compensation, when one publisher has gone weaker, another has gone stronger, but now everyone has a weak market development, says Per Almgren to the Swedish Bookstore.

Another challenge is the digitalisation that the publisher needs to adapt to, says Per Almgren.

- It pushes up costs on the teaching aids side and lowers revenues as there is strong price competition. We see a market development that is structural and then there is no reason not to adapt.

The cultural news is seeking Per Almgren, CEO of Nature and Culture, for a comment.
