Developed by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, the Zayed National Museum is of particular interest to the people of the UAE and the region and will have a global resonance. The permanent collection will showcase the best national artifacts as well as loaned pieces from leading international museums. In making the museum a vital part of the national, regional and international cultural landscape.

Zayed National Museum is a tribute to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the values he has embedded in his life, including his belief in education and his interest in preserving the environment, documenting history and heritage and supporting culture, all driven by humanitarian and charitable work.

Lord Norman Foster, winner of the Pritzker International Architecture Prize and one of the most prolific architects of his generation, put the design of the Zayed National Museum after his company, Foster + Partners, won the international tender for the project. Foster was inspired by the design of the towers of the museum in the form of falcon wings, inspired by Sheikh Zayed's passion for falcons and the long tradition of falconry in the Gulf. The carving of these suites relied on the principles of aerodynamics to serve as ventilating towers that reduce the heat of the sun "Bragel" - a contemporary reference to the traditions of architecture in the region - and the height of the towers between 83 and 123 meters.

The main foyer of the Zayed National Museum offers a welcoming space for everyone. The museum is a national and cultural institution and a learning space. The two exhibitions on the ground floor represent the heart of the museum. Life is transforming the landscape and how rich natural resources are formed.

On the first floor of the museum, four exhibitions take the form of a hanging knoll, taking the visitor on a journey through the history of the country, from the arrival of the first human migrations and the emergence of oases to the contemporary culture of diversity.

These four galleries are suspended above the central upper lobby to form a base for each pavilion. Inspired by the topography of the UAE, visitors can climb to the 30-meter-high hill outside and walk between the pavilion bases for a unique view of the Saadiyat Cultural District. A 400-meter landscaped garden connects the museum narrative, exploring the main stations of Sheikh Zayed's life, while at the same time linking the museum with the sea and other cultural area sites.

Zayed National Museum offers a unique experience that stimulates thinking, dynamic and interactive dialogue while diving into the details of the life, biography, visions and values of the founding father and the history of the region. The display of the museum collections has been developed to provide an integrated educational experience for visitors of all ages and educational levels, taking into account the needs of people of determination. The narrative vision of Zayed National Museum includes unconventional media, including interactive touch screens, illustrations, audio materials and movies with digital interaction features.

The Zayed National Museum will organize an educational program that is currently being developed in line with the UAE curriculum.
