Written wish "Maneki" written in Kyoto Minamiza face show performance November 6, 16:16

In front of the year-end Kabuki performance at the Minamiza Theater in Kyoto, the temple in Kyoto City was working on a sign to introduce a performer called “Maneki”.

At Myokoji Temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, calligrapher Yu Inoue is working on the name of the performer on approximately 50 firewood signboards displayed at Kabuki's Facial Show.

The signboard is 80 centimeters long and 30 centimeters wide. On the 6th, the name of the fourth human national treasure, Tojuro Sakata, was carefully written with a brush.

The Maneki signboard is a traditional advertising method that continues from the Edo-era playhouse, and is written in a rounded character without any gaps, using a unique typeface called “Kantei-ryu” in hopes of large visitors.

Mr. Inoue said, “Kamimi Seiko is an annual event and you are familiar with it, so I wrote a lot of hope for success. I want you to feel the gorgeous mood with the signboard.”

The Maneki sign will be raised in front of Kyoto Minamiza on the 25th of this month, and the face show will begin on the 30th of this month.
