Re: public has been a magazine focusing on the documentary image report. It started in 2005 and is now closing after 15 years. In a post on Facebook, the editors write:

“Is it possible to make a newspaper that puts documentary storytelling in text and image before chronicles and thinking, which puts quality, accuracy and care before profit interests or even wages? Yes it does - for 15 years. "

One of the more prominent reports was Home to the Village from 2014, which was awarded the Stora Journalistpriset. At the time, the photo editor Alexander Mahmoud traveled to his hometown of Grimslöv to reflect on growing up and adapting to a racist society.

The reason given for why the magazine closes is that the non-profit forces are no longer sufficient, they write. On the website, some of the magazine's reports will remain as a memorial archive.
