The name collection follows in the line of protests against Peter Handke being awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. On Tuesday, a demonstration was held outside the Swedish embassy in Sarajevo. And as the Cultural News previously reported, the chairman of the survivor organization Srebrenica's mothers, in connection with the manifestation, handed over a letter addressed to the royal couple with an invitation to withdraw the prize.

The name collection, which started just under a month ago and which is addressed to the Nobel Committee, reached over 49,800 signatures during Wednesday afternoon.

"A person defending such a monster (Slobodan Milošević, ed. Note) does not deserve even the smallest literary recognition and even less a Nobel Prize," reads alongside the name collection, which continues: "We do not tolerate an award by anyone defending a mass murderer ".
