A depressed cartoonist will choose to relive the day of his love at first sight with his wife, in the 1970s. So much for the starting point of a romantic comedy that comes out in theaters, in France, this Wednesday, November 6th. Its title: "The Belle Epoque". This is the second film of Nicolas Bedos.

And if you could live an episode of the historical period of your choice? An entrepreneur has launched a popular concept: to offer everyone, for a fee, set and comedians, to put themselves in the shoes of a famous person or live in the Middle Ages or in Antiquity.

The Belle Epoque is the name of the bar in which Victor met Marianne. That was in April 1974. And, 45 years later, the couple floundered. Victor, aka Daniel Auteuil , is a cartoonist depressed and allergic to new technologies while his wife, camped by Fanny Ardant, is very connected. Victor receives a special gift: relive the day of his choice. It is a new kind of performance concocted by a young entrepreneur who organizes everything: sets, costumes and actors.

" I burn a little life "

Nicolas Bedos starts from a brilliant idea of scenario to carry out drumming this romantic comedy which speaks, among others, of the wear and tear of the couple. " I always feel like I will not be over 45 ," says Nicolas Bedos. I burn a little life. I try to do it as quickly as possible. To make movies full of the maximum of myself, of society. I tend to speak to the greatest number. "

A film full of good ideas, sometimes too abundant, but which particularly appeals outside the borders. Screened out of competition in Cannes and shown in Toronto, La Belle Epoque pleases the United States so much that an American remake is already in preparation.
