October 27 marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Soviet theater and film actor Mikhail Zharov. Trying himself as an extras at the Zimin Opera House, Zharov did not think that he would devote his whole life to the stage. He imagined himself more like a theater artist than an actor. The meeting with Fedor Chaliapin changed everything - it was thanks to her that Zharov realized that he wanted to become an artist. He collaborated with Meyerhold and Eisenstein, served in several theaters, and in 1938 came to the Maly Theater, where he worked for the rest of his life. The first prominent role in the movie - in the film "Road to Happiness" - the actor received in 1925. Then there were “Bear” and “Peter the First”, “Defense of Tsaritsyn”, “Ivan the Terrible” and “Elder Sister”, which brought universal recognition to Mikhail Zharov.
