Many were those who, during the 2017 metro wave, chose to tell - both anonymously and openly - about sexual abuse they were subjected to. However, it was not as many who let the outside world understand who they accused.

Now a third woman is being indicted for gross defamation after notable statements during the metoo fall. In a closed group on Facebook, the woman named the famous comedian and wrote that he subjected her to sexual abuse for a year.

Similar allegations against the man also came from two other women in connection with the metoo. These led to the initiation of a preliminary investigation into him, but it was, however, closed down in May 2018 due to a lack of evidence.

"The crime should be judged as serious"

In the indictment that is now being brought, which Aftonbladet was the first to report, it states, inter alia, that the district court must take into account that it has been "relatively easy to calculate how large the dissemination of the task will be". And that the task has been apt to cause serious damage to the plaintiff.

The lawsuit states that "the crime should be assessed as serious because the information is intended for serious crime, has been widely disseminated and has led to great harm in NN's private life and professional activities".

Three prosecution charges in the wake of metoo

One of the most famous faces of the metoo movement in Sweden was writer Cissi Wallin, who openly accused the former Aftonbladet journalist Fredrik Virtanen of rape. In August 2019, it became known that Wallin was being prosecuted for gross indecency because of this. The trial against her begins at the end of November.

Last summer, a woman was convicted of gross indecency in Nacka District Court since she published rape charges on Facebook against a famous director in the fall of 2017.

Common to all cases is that the allegations of abuse were published in Facebook groups and on Instagram.
