A small group of Saudi women moved confidently at a falcon exhibition, showing in the exhibition grounds that the appreciation of the beloved hunting bird is not limited to men.

Six young Saudi female falconers took part in the second Saudi Falconry and Hunting Exhibition in Riyadh, which celebrates expensive hunting birds.

While one of the falcons was relaxed in her arm, Khulood Al-Othman said she saw falconry or breeding and hunting as an important and valuable hobby, adding that she changed her character for the better.

"The thing that attracted me to the hobby hobby is that it is a symbol of power and women of course strong."

The girlfriends group, mostly students and part-time workers, visited the first edition of the exhibition last year.
Motivated by the experience, mixed with surprise because of the lack of female participation, they formed a real estate team called the Shawahik.

The breeding of falcons for hunting is an important part of the desert cultural heritage in the UAE and Saudi Arabia and goes back thousands of years.

Al-Othman says that «Falcon is something distinctive (characterized) authenticity and (reminds us) of our heritage of course and our culture .. And I send a message to every Saudi woman that it is possible to practice any hobby is Tobgha (want) .. What (does) say is (it) hobby limited to young people "Just vice versa (also) for girls and for women in general."

In the midst of a small crowd and with a falcon moving towards her, the Saudi falconers Abrar al-Obais quietly stretched her arm to land the bird in silence.

She said that the women who participated in the exhibition still need some development in the future, but their participation sends the message that this hobby is not limited to men only.

Women hope to develop their skills in falconry so that they can participate in international events.
