Philippe Vandel's guest on Europe 1 on Monday, the former boss of Closer Laurence Pieau came back on the reasons for leaving the press group, bought this summer by Reworld Media.

INTERVIEW

This is a real hemorrhage affecting Mondadori France. Worried about the group's takeover this summer by Reworld Media, nearly 60 percent of Mondadori's 330 journalists have applied for the sell-out clause and will leave the group. Among these employees, Laurence Pieau, founder and managing editor of Closer , but also of Télé Star and Télé Poche . "I had a big doubt about being able to continue doing the magazines as I did," she said Monday at the microphone of Europe 1.

"A difference in content culture"

Despite these numerous starts, "Mondadori's newspapers will come out, we must stop brandishing scarecrows," says the former boss of the magazine people, at the microphone of Philippe Vandel. Returning to the reasons for her departure and those of many journalists, Laurence Pieau believes that there is "a difference in content culture between that of Reworld and Mondadori." "At Reworld, every content is business-related, I'm not saying it's good or it's bad, it was not our way," she says. "I had a big doubt about being able to continue doing the magazines as I did them, I did not have any insurance in that sense".

Even after her departure, the founder of Closer remains in solidarity with the journalists still present in the group. "There are journalists and high-quality managers at Mondadori, and I hope Reworld will have the intelligence to listen to them, because they have made these magazines and brands," she says again, trusting her "sadness" in front of this situation.
