The German expert Ralf Dickman warned that plastic slippers containing substances harmful to health, such as «polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons», cause skin irritation and raise the risk of cancer.
The product safety expert at the German Technical Inspection Authority that with the sweating of the foot or use of the cream dissolve these harmful substances, and penetrate into the skin through open pores.
These harmful substances can be identified by emitting a "sweet" pungent smell stronger than the usual plastic smell, Dickman said.
To avoid this risk, it is not possible to buy slippers from unknown sources, but from quality and reputable brands.
