Earthstorms do not affect astronauts aboard the International Space Station, but this does not prevent them from observing Hurricane Durian and sending their unique images to Earth's inhabitants, according to the Dubai Future Observatory.

NASA astronaut Nick Haig posted on Twitter a terrifying picture of the hurricane he took from the International Space Station, the observatory said.

Less than two hours later, NASA's Christina Koch posted another footage of Hurricane Durian from the International Space Station, including a photo of the heart of the hurricane.

The hurricane caused severe damage in the Bahamas, hitting 177 kilometers per hour and killing five people.

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station are not the only eyes watching Hurricane Durian from space. NASA and the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are using a wide range of satellites to monitor the storm's progress.
