Hulu has already aired three seasons, and has announced that a fourth is underway, of the series The handmaid's tale, which is based on the novel The Handmaid's Story. It is about the fictional country of Gilead, where Christian fundamentalists have taken power. The series has won eleven Emmys since 2017 and starred Elisabeth Moss.
In Sweden, The handmaid's speech is shown on HBO Nordic.
Whether Hulu plans to create a standalone series of The Testament or allow it to be a continuation of The Handmaid's tale is yet to be determined.
Only the first season of The handmaid's tale follows the plot of The Handmaid's Story. What follows then has the scriptwriters themselves dictated, without the help of Margaret Atwood, who now publishes their own version of what happened next.
