More than thirty years after the release of the first opus, Tom Cruise presented Thursday the trailer of the continuation of the adventures of Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, the cult character that he embodied in Top Gun.

The audience was delighted by the surprise: Tom Cruise traveled to San Diego's Comic-Con on Thursday to present for the first time the trailer for Top Gun: Maverick , the sequel to the hugely popular 1986 film.

"You have all asked the question for many years ... I travel around the world, people (me) say: why do not you do another, when will you do another" Top Gun ? launched the Hollywood star at the 50th edition of this huge festival celebrating pop culture. "34 years old, you have been very patient with me and I felt it was my responsibility to finally do it for you," added Tom Cruise.

In the trailer, we can see the pilot Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, played by Tom Cruise, refuse to retire although he has not managed to take the lead. We also see him on his bike, wearing his famous leather jacket and sunglasses.

Airplanes filmed without special effects

The scenes of planes launching from an aircraft carrier are "all true" and result from close work with army officials, said Tom Cruise. "I really wanted to give you all the experience of what it feels like to be inside this plane ... it's a love letter to the air force," he said. -he adds.

The first Top Gun had not been the subject of rave reviews but had been a huge popular success, making Tom Cruise a star. Top Gun: Maverick must come out in the summer of 2020.
