In a famous wildlife sanctuary in Zimbabwe, an elephant has trampled a German tourist dead. According to initial findings, the 49-year-old left her vehicle to take photos of an elephant herd in the protected area Mana Pools in the north of the country, said a spokesman for the Zimbabwean Wildlife Authority.

The elephant had attacked the woman for unknown reasons. She died at night according to the spokesman of her injuries. Accordingly, passengers could not be questioned about the incident because they were in shock.

Zimbabwe in southern Africa has about 84,000 elephants. Again and again it comes to deadly incidents with people.

Last year, a tour guide at the Victoria Falls had been trampled by an elephant trained as a mount. Another man was killed as he tried to drive a herd for more beautiful photos in the unwooded area.
