According to several Spanish media, the autopsy revealed that Julen died the day he fell in the hole. In the fall he suffered several injuries. The daily newspaper "Málaga Hoy" reports, without indicating its sources, that the two-year-old died of a traumatic brain injury.

According to the newspaper "La Vanguardia", Julen must have encountered several stones in the hole in the case. In the next few days further results of the autopsy are expected.

Julen had dropped into the illegally dug and unmarked hole two weeks ago while his parents were picnicking nearby. Hundreds of engineers, policemen and mining experts were around the clock after the disaster to rescue the boy. They had repeatedly encountered difficulties in the face of the hard rock.

Since Julen's disappearance, there had been no sign of life for the two-year-old. First responders found only the boy's hair and a candy bag in the hole.

According to initial findings, Julen had rushed 71 meters "in free fall" into the narrow hole until his body hit a layer of soil, as the authorities said. Maybe the boy had been covered after his fall from earth and sand, so a camera could not locate him.
