NEW DELHI - New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardenne said 40 people were killed and more than 20 were seriously wounded by gunfire in two mosques in Christchurch today.

Adding that it was decided to raise the degree of security threat to the highest level.

Police arrested four of them with extremist views but were not on any watch lists, she said.
