The social networking company "Twitter" has identified a security vulnerability that threatens Twitter tweets of some Twitter users through smart devices running Android.

The social networking network reported that the vulnerability has disabled the "Protect your Tweets" feature for some users who have made changes to their settings, such as updating the email address associated with the protected account from 3 November 2014 to 14 January.

The website "CNN.net" technology specialist that the users of the application "Twitter" devices through the smart operating system, "IOS" were not affected by this gap.

Twitter said it repaired the gap, but did not say how many accounts had been damaged over the past years, so users would prefer to review their account settings if they use the Android app to re-activate the "Protect Your Tweets" option. At the same time, Users who have been confirmed to be affected by the vulnerability to reactivate these account settings.

Data protection authorities in Ireland are currently investigating with the US company how they track users when they click links on their Twitter accounts to see if they violate data protection and privacy laws.

Ireland's data protection agency said in an e-mail statement that it had received notification of the practices and was currently evaluating them.

Companies that violate data protection rules in Ireland pay a fine of up to 20 million euros, or 4% of their total revenue during the year before the violation was discovered.
