Every day, Axel de Tarlé takes stock of the economy.

Total puts nearly nine billion dollars in gas, it is proof that fossil fuels always have a future.

This is the sad reality when we are told about green energies, clean energies, wind turbines or solar energy.
The reality is that our consumption of "dirty" energy or fossil fuels continues to grow.

This is what reminds us of Total, which is partnering with an American oilman (Occidental) in a takeover bid to recover gas fields in Africa (in Mozambique, Ghana and Algeria in Anadarko).
An operation worth $ 8.8 billion, the value of a company like Valéo or Suez.
This is for Total to get its hands on three billion barrels of resources. Although it must be said, the combustion of gas is cleaner than that of oil. Gas is a less polluting energy but it remains a fossil fuel. This is an additional amount of CO2 that will be released into the atmosphere and contribute to global warming.

Gas and oil consumption continues to rise in the world?

Of course, the emerging countries are still consuming more (especially India or China), with huge populations who aspire to have a car.
For a long time, it was believed that production would not follow. In the 70s and 80s it was said that we had more than 30 years or 40 years of oil. We always find some and the techniques allow to extract more and more.
With the famous shale oil, the United States will increase its production by four million barrels per day by 2024, which is the equivalent of twice the French consumption.

Today, we consume nearly 100 million barrels a day and it increases each year, of the order of a million barrels a day, says the International Energy Agency.

The disaster is announced! But what is the solution? How to get out?

There must be a technological breakthrough and incentives. There is an expression saying that "the Stone Age did not end for lack of stone". Similarly, the oil age will not end for lack of oil.
All the work on the electric car or hydrogen, on the "Iter" nuclear fusion in Caradache, is a technological breakthrough that makes the oil look old.
