The 38th album of the adventures of Asterix, whose world release is scheduled for October 24, will be entitled "The daughter of Vercingetorix", and will benefit from an exceptional circulation of more than 5 million copies.

Even at the time of Asterix, it was difficult to be a teenager ... So when in addition we carry the surname of Vercingetorix, we imagine how much it should be a heavy burden in a Gaul (almost) all occupied by the legions of Julius Caesar. The daughter of Vercingetorix is the name of the 38th album adventures of Asterix and Obelix, whose global release is scheduled for October 24, revealed Wednesday the publishing house Albert-Rene (a subsidiary of Hachette Livre Group) .

What we already know

As usual, the publisher was quite stingy with details of this new album signed, like the previous three, the tandem Jean-Yves Ferri (screenplay) and Didier Conrad (drawing).

If he refuses to reveal the name of the young Vercingetorix ("it's a kind of pun," says Ferri AFP, in a burst of laughter), the screenwriter ensures that this teenager has the strong character of his father. The theme of the album, "it is the variegated resistance with adolescence ... and adolescence is not quite simple ... The daughter of Vercingetorix has a character of teenager and has a hard time 'call as it's called,' he continues. The publisher has only filtered a shadow of the teenager. The silhouette of a slender girl is distinguished by a long braid ending in a knot and carrying a sword on the left.

Printed over 5 million copies

The release of a new Astérix - there is a new title every two years - is still a phenomenon in the world of publishing. No other book has such a large circulation in the French-speaking world. The 38th volume of the adventures of the famous Gallic hero, imagined 60 years ago by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, will benefit from an exceptional circulation of more than 5 million copies. Between each new album, more than 600,000 copies of one of Asterix's adventures are sold each year in France. Since its creation in 1959, 380 million albums have been sold worldwide. The albums have been translated into over a hundred languages.
