A team from the International Astronomy Center (IAEC) today managed to monitor and photograph a rare astronomical phenomenon seen from parts of the UAE by the passing of an asteroid called Semiramis in front of a star of the Parshaus group.

The director of the International Astronomy Center, Eng. Mohamed Shawkat Odeh, said: "This observation is considered a difficult astrological observation for a number of reasons including the low brightness of the star and the asteroid, the star shining from the ninth degree and the asteroid shining from the eleventh degree. These values make it impossible to see the phenomenon except through precise devices It is a relatively dark place.

On the other hand, the Director of the International Astronomy Center explained that the phenomenon can only be observed from certain areas. It is a narrow strip no more than 10 kilometers wide. It crossed the UAE from the west coast north of Umm al-Qaiwain, heading east, ending in the eastern coast north of Dibba al-Fujairah.

The Asteroid asteroid is only 57 km in diameter, and the delay time is 150 million km. The astronomical calculations indicate that the asteroid will pass in front of the star. The attack began this morning at 2:00 am, 40 minutes and 55 seconds, and lasted for only 11 seconds. The asterisk does not disappear because of the small size of the asteroid, but its brightness is minimized.

Astronomical observations are astronomical phenomena that provide valuable information to scientists through which many discoveries have been made, including the discovery of the rings of Uranus and Neptune and determine the diameters of some stars and determine the shape of the edges of the moon and determine the shape and sizes of some asteroids.
