The iconic British rock band The Rolling Stones has released a new compilation album Honk. It includes the best musical compositions of the group, since 1971. Information about the release of the plate appeared on the official website of the team.

“A completely new Honk compilation album is already available in various formats. The collection includes the best hits and classic tracks from the group's studio albums, starting with Sticky Fingers in 1971 and ending with Blue & Lonesome 2016, ”the site says.

The standard edition of the album consists of 36 compositions, and the extended edition - of 46. The album can already be heard on the resources available to Russians.

Honk is expected to be released on CD, vinyl and digital. The deluxe version includes recordings of the group with Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Florence Welch (Florence and the Machine), Ed Sheeran, as well as country singer Brad Paisley.

The compilation, in particular, included a live version of the song Bitch, which the musicians performed along with the frontman Foo Fighters during a concert in Anaheim. In addition, the album includes live recordings of Beast of Burden (with Sheeran at a concert in Kansas), Dead Flowers (with Paisley at a performance in Philadelphia) and Wild Horses (with Welch at a performance in London).

Back to basics

The last studio album of rock veterans was released in 2016 - 11 years after the release of the previous A Bigger Bang CD in 2005.

The 23rd studio album in the UK was called Blue & Lonesome, and not a single author song was included. In the practice of musicians, this happened for the first time: even in their debut album called The Rolling Stones, which consisted of covers of blues hits, rockers turned on the ballad of Tell Me.

In Blue & Lonesome, the group turned to the roots. The story of the band once began with a great love of the blues from Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Despite the fact that the musicians soon switched to the fatal riffs, the blues passion (mostly Chicago) did not disappear from their lives. Rockers carried devotion to the genre through life and embodied it in Blue & Lonesome in just three days.

As a result, the album included only cover versions of hits by blues musicians - 12 tracks, including songs by Haulin Wolfe, Magic Sam, Willie Dixon and Little Walter.

The disc received positive feedback from fans of the team. In the first week of release, over 100 thousand copies were sold. In the UK, the album led the UK Albums Chart, and was also recognized as platinum.

In the US, Blue & Lonesome hit the top five most popular music albums according to the version of Billboard magazine.
