A Syrian lawyer has filed a lawsuit against a Damascus cleric sparked controversy during the past days after the spread of video recordings of religious lessons in a mosque in Damascus stirred by "electronic mixing" and circulated pages of Syria on social networking sites the text of the case filed by Attorney Ola Mohammed al-Saftli from the city of Homs against Sheikh Mohammed Khair Al Shaal. The lawyer, Sheikh, also a dentist, ended up committing crimes "for political ends and purposes, to incite strife and to undermine national sentiment."
In the past few days, activists have circulated several lectures, sermons and lessons of the sheikh, who preaches and studies at the Anas bin Malik mosque in Damascus, some criticizing the women's dress, and others prohibiting "electronic mixing" and warning against the situation of children at school teachers.
