Even more than two years after her death, Mark Hamill still mourns his former fellow actress and girlfriend Carrie Fisher. That said the former actor of Luke Skywalker in a podcast of the "Hollywood Reporter". It was especially hard for him in 2017, when the last part "The Last Jedi" had been released.

"Of course, everyone wanted to talk about it, and so you'll find yourself having to mourn in public without end, that's difficult," said Hamill, who starred with Fisher in several Star Wars movies. Among other things, in the first part of the saga, "Star Wars", 42 years ago.

In 2017, Hamill told the British "Guardian" that he had a brief affair with Fisher in the 1970s. They felt drawn to each other, but he knew from previous jobs that getting started with someone on the set would be a bad idea. Talking to the "Hollywood Reporter," Hamill now said that the death of his longtime girlfriend is still sad.

"She had such a perfect timing - except in this case"

Fisher died in December 2016 shortly after the shooting of "The Last Jedi" at the age of 60 years as a result of a heart attack. In the ninth part of the Star Wars film series, which will be released in December in German cinemas, the actress in her role as Leia Organa should be the focus. "She had such perfect timing - except in this case," said Hamill. Fisher should still be seen in "Star Wars: Episode IX" - thanks to previously unused material.

The Star Wars movies are among the most commercially successful films in history. In total, the works cost more than nine billion dollars. The hero epic invented by George Lucas received a total of ten Oscars - seven of them for "Star Wars".
