The body of a Saudi Arabian tourist who drowned in the Nile River in Uganda after being shot down while taking a photo (Sylvie) was recovered, police said on Wednesday.
Local police spokeswoman Helen Botuto said the man fell into the river while taking pictures at Calagala Falls last Saturday. One of the fishermen found his body and was carried by a stream of water towards the mouth of the river on Tuesday.
"He was taking pictures of Sylvie when he fell into the river from a very slippery rock he was standing on, and his friends failed to help him," the spokeswoman said.
The River Nile, the longest river in the world, passes through Uganda among several other countries, and many waterfalls and river slopes are a major tourist attraction. Deaths during filming are becoming more common as tourists use their mobile phones to try to take pictures in dangerous areas
