Indian Prime Minister Narendra Mudi opened the longest railway bridge in India yesterday, reducing travel time and boosting defense logistics along the country's northeastern border with China.

The 4.9-kilometer-long Bojibil bridge passes over the Brahmaputra river in Assam state between the Dibrugarh and Damaji regions, which lie on the borders of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, a disputed area claimed by China.

"Bojibil is not just a bridge, it is the lifeblood of hundreds of thousands of people in the region," Moody told a crowd at the bridge, which includes a three-lane highway at the top and a double railway line below.
