Japan's Nissan Motor Co. decided Monday to dismiss its former chairman, Carlos Ghosn, from its board of directors at an extraordinary shareholder meeting following his arrest and indictment.

The shareholders also agreed to appoint Renault's new chairman, Jean-Dominique Cinnard, as a new board member.

The shareholders also decided to dismiss Greg Kelly, the right-hand man of Ghosn, from the board after being accused of collaborating with the former president on allegations of financial mismanagement.

In 1999, Renault Ghosn sent a transformation in Nissan, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, after forming a capitalist alliance with the Japanese automaker. Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Motors sold more than 10 million cars in 2018 after Ghosn Reactivate Nissan vehicles.

Ghosn was arrested in Tokyo last November, facing charges of financial corruption, betrayal of trust over allegations of not disclosing about $ 82 million in salary and converting personal financial losses to Nissan's accounts during the financial crisis.
