An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 was recorded in the waters of the Pacific Ocean in the region of the Kuril Islands. This is reported by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
According to seismologists, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 112 km south-east of the city of Kurilsk on Iturup island.
The center of aftershocks lies at a depth of 60 km.
