Jonathann Daval will not be released, decided the Besançon Court of Appeal on Tuesday, rejecting a request to this effect formulated by the main suspect in the death of Alexia Daval. He was confronted this Tuesday morning to his in-laws by videoconference, a first since his arrest.

The Besançon Court of Appeal has dismissed, unsurprisingly, Jonathann Daval's request for release, suspected of having killed his girlfriend before setting her body on fire, reports France Bleu Besançon. This Tuesday, magistrates examined this request during a one-hour hearing in the presence of the family of the victim, a civil party in the case.

Jonathann Daval, who was interviewed by videoconference from the Dijon prison, was confronted by his in-laws for the first time since his arrest. By the end of June, he had changed his story, now believing that his brother-in-law, Gregory Gay, had killed Alexia. He then spoke of a covenant within the family to conceal the crime;

The Besançon Court of Appeal found that, for the purposes of the investigation and the ongoing investigation, the suspect could not be released and would therefore remain in prison.
