The sportswear manufacturer Hummel has banned Cathy Hummels by temporary injunction to bring casual shoes with the word "Hummels" on the market. The district court of Hamburg made a corresponding application essentially, as a court spokesman confirmed.

The company from Denmark accuses the wife of national player Mats Hummels brand infringement. The reason: Hummel and Hummels - that sounds too similar. "The signs are in six out of seven letters," the court stated in its decision.

The 30-year-old wants to "take it for granted" against the injunction, as her lawyer Christian-Oliver Moser said. "The court has decided here without a hearing of our client." The claims of Hummel are unfounded. The lawyer said: "Incidentally, Hummel's use of her surname can not be prohibited by our client."
