Hugues Aufray: "Dick Rivers was happy in this job"

Hugues Aufray paid tribute to his friend Dick Rivers, who died on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday from cancer, the day he turned 74 years old. "It is necessarily very sad for all those who liked it", reacted the singer on Europe 1, Wednesday.

Dick Rivers, whose "very friendly side" he points out, and he had "a somewhat similar path in music": "He liked American music a lot, like me." Hervé Fornieri, his real name, owes his nickname to a character played by Elvis Presley in the movie Loving you .

"He loved the life he led"

Major figure of French rock'n'roll, Dick Rivers died after a career of more than 55 years, thirty albums and several tours in France and North America. Hugues Aufray assures him, "he was happy in this profession", in particular because "he was able to sing alongside Johnny, alongside Francis Cabrel, people whom he admired a lot".

Dick Rivers "had his club, he had his music, he had his audience". The ingredients of a successful life: "He loved the life he lived and loved the music he made." "That's why he had fans who today are going to cry a lot, I think of them, I think of his family."
