A voter punished himself by cutting off his finger after realizing that he had mistakenly voted for his party's rival party candidate during the second round of India's general legislative elections.

"Bawan Kumar" mistakenly pressed the button with the lotus logo instead of the elephant's logo button, so he decided to cut his finger because of this mistake, he said.

Kumar wanted to vote for the candidate of the Bahugan Samag Party against the candidate of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, in the city of Blandeshir in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

A video of Kumar was posted on the Internet after cutting his finger and explaining why he had done it.

Voters in India are pouring their ink into ink that is hard to remove after casting ballots.
