"The Secretary-General, with grief, took the message about the victims of the earthquake that occurred in Haiti on October 6 ... The UN is ready for earthquake relief operations," the text says.
At the same time, Guterres expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the accident.
Earlier it became known that a magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck off the coast of Haiti.
As a result of the incident, 12 people died, 170 were injured.
