Gulf Photo Plus has announced the main exhibition of the 2019 Photography Week under the title «The Shortest Distance Between Us» Stories from the Arab Program for Documentary Photography », presented by the Arab Fund for Culture and Arts - Afaq and the Circal Avenue, in cooperation with the Prince Claus Fund and the Magnum Foundation , And will be held in «Concrete» multi-disciplinary building in the Circal Avenue, from 4 to 9 February.

The exhibition, supervised by actress Jessica Murray of the Al-Liquindoi Foundation, features selected works by seven photographers receiving grants from the Arab documentary film program. The program provides support and guidance to photographers from all over the Arab region. The works in question include: Elsey El Haddad's target space: documenting the lives of prisoners in Lebanon after leaving prison, and attempting to return to society.

Hisham Jardaf Intersections: Jardif explores the impact of urban development in Morocco on Moroccan society and identity. Non-Fertile Crescent Nadia Bseisu: The work follows a pipeline transporting water from the Red Sea to the Dead Sea, where the effects of war and environmental unrest are evident.

Living refugee love Omar Imam: An imam of refugees asks to imagine their dreams and try to revive them again.

On the west of life Zaid bin Ramadhan: The photographer filmed scenes from phosphate mining villages in Tunisia, showing the poverty that still exists, despite the contribution of phosphate in the Tunisian economy.

Moon dust Mohammed Mahdi: A project from Wadi Al-Kamar in Alexandria, where the photographer shows the effect of toxic dust emitted from the cement factory around the urban environment surrounding the valley.

Made at home Heba Khalife: A realistic and honest study of the female body and all forms of abuse borne by women in Egypt simply because they are female.

Documentary photography projects allow viewing and experimenting with issues that affect the region without additions, which often turn stories into statistics and visual repetition.
