Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash said that the UAE has been a pioneer in the fight against extremism and terrorism and its vision of this danger is internationally appreciated. He said that the UAE's fight against extremism and terrorism began early, and through a clear reading of the dimensions of this danger, It was followed by gradual and deliberate steps that contributed to the protection of society, the nation and the region as a whole.

Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash participated in the Ninth Ministerial Meeting of the Global Counter-Terrorism Forum, held in New York on the sidelines of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting, chaired by the Moroccan Foreign Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, aimed at highlighting the initiatives of the Forum at the national and regional levels, its achievements and future initiatives, as well as discussing the Forum's priorities in combating terrorism.

The forum discussed a number of topics related to combating terrorism, the most prominent of which are the methods and practices of preventing and deterring internal terrorism, intervention and response to it, and the best known international practices in the field of confronting foreign terrorists. The meeting also discussed the relationship and links between organized and transnational crime and terrorism.

The Global Counter-Terrorism Forum is informal, political and multilateral, working to develop and promote a long-term approach to combating terrorism and violent extremism.
