France Televisions will negotiate a departure plan that will include "no forced departures" to reduce and renew its workforce, said a source close to the record Wednesday, an information confirmed by the direction of the group.

In front of the social and economic committee of France Televisions, its president Delphine Ernotte announced that a project of collective conventional rupture, the extent of which has not been specified, would be negotiated with the unions.

Negotiations could begin in January. "There will be no forced departure," said Arnaud Lesaunier, Executive Vice President Human Resources and organization of France Televisions. "The plan will mostly accompany retirements" and "will be accompanied by measures facilitating internal mobility," he said. Negotiations with representative organizations could begin as early as the first week of January.

This departure plan is part of the spending reduction plan in which France Télévisions has been committed for several years. The group, which had reduced its workforce by 800 posts since 2012 (as part of a policy of non-replacement of one in every two retirements) had already announced the elimination of 180 positions in favor of retirements, out of nearly 10,000 employees.

"We have a real need for generational mix and team reorganization," said the DG delegate. This departure plan "will allow the recruitment of younger and digital profiles, and the integration of non-permanent employees," he said.

The unions denounce a "large-scale restructuring". Employees' representatives immediately rose to prominence in a statement, in what they describe as "large-scale restructuring".

The unions CGT, CFDT, FO and SNJ "refuse a new plan for the abolition of posts, adding to those in progress, at a time when the public service is facing historical challenges of digital development and networking of territories" . The trade unions denounce in particular a "blackmail of management that suggests that in the absence of collective agreement, departures would continue unaccompanied".

50% of the workforce is 50 years old or older. The average age of employees of France Télévisions, all trades combined, is 49 years, and 50% of the workforce is 50 years or older. Less than 3% of the workforce is under 30 years old.

The government has asked the group a savings effort that will approach 400 million euros by 2022 and will also pass by the abolition of TNT France 4 and France. The effort represents this year about 50 million euros on a budget of 2.8 billion euros.
