Four people were killed today after a horrific traffic accident on a highway near the eastern city of Leipzig.

German police said a driver of a transport vehicle lost control of his car and broke into the central barrier and walked in the opposite direction, causing his car to collide with the opposite cars.

The low-speed transport vehicle that caused the accident was carrying a construction vehicle. The vehicle overturned over a private car from Berlin, killing four of its passengers among the wreckage of the wrecked car.
Police suspect that a tire explosion caused the accident.

No investigation has yet been given to the age and gender of the victims.

The incident also wounded four other people, police say, the driver of the transport vehicle, his assistant and Rakban, who were in a third car from Salzburg, Austria, were also injured.

The four were also lightly injured at nearby hospitals, and traffic on the highway stopped in the direction of the capital Berlin.
