Two brothers, the same passion

Laurent was the eldest, the prodigious navigator with a dazzling track record: Solitaire du Figaro on his first attempt, at 22 and younger competitor, La Baule-Dakar alone, Route du Rhum, Transat Jacques Vabre and so many other successes . Yvan, his younger brother, is also a gifted navigator, but he has made himself known to the general public through perilous adventures, including a solo world tour aboard a very small catamaran (6 meters long). His latest feat, during the summer of 2017, the Northwest Passage, which connects the Pacific to the Atlantic, in some of the most hostile conditions on the planet, serves as the theme for this documentary.

"I really thought he would not come back," says his girlfriend. "I do not know why he goes to the end," his mother wonders. Yvan gives some keys: "I'm not a loner in the soul, I like people, share. Loneliness takes me to meditation, to thoughts. You have plenty of time to think about your childhood, your memories, what you lived with your brother, what we shared .

Disappeared in the turquoise waters of Polynesia

This big brother who was his double, his half on the oceans and he searched for a week in the turquoise waters of Polynesia, in vain. "I wrote a last letter and I sent it to the sea, that's all I could do to say goodbye," says Yvan, who knows what Laurent would have thought of his last adventure extreme: "He would not have guaranted, would have told me that I was the fool" .

Two brothers who have marked the history of the sailing race and whose name could still resonate in future years. Basil, the son of Laurent, Mathis and Timothée, those of Yvan, are also as magnetized by offshore races and ready to take up the torch. "Hunt one, there is another. It grows in every corner of the street, the Bourgnon, there are everywhere, " says amused Loïck Peyron, who also knows siblings browsers out of the ordinary.
