The company, which was responsible for scaffolding at Notre Dame Cathedral before the fire broke out on Wednesday, admitted some of its workers had smoked on site, but said it was not the cause of the fire.
The newspaper "Le Canard O'Cheny" said earlier that the workers had told police they violated the smoking ban, although the newspaper reported that investigators believe that Massa electrically is the most likely cause of the fire that destroyed the roof of the cathedral.

According to the weekly newspaper, which referred to "scandals" related to the incident, the firefighters did not receive a notice until 35 minutes after the fire alarm issued by the cathedral's security system, meaning that the 20 minutes officially spoken were incorrect.

Investigators who collected evidence from the cathedral, which had survived for several centuries, found seven cigarette butts, but the failure did not stop at that point.
