BEIJING (Reuters) - A man hijacked a bus in the southeast of the country and was shocked by a human gathering, media reports said.
The incident, according to news agencies that immediately reported the incident in the city of "Lujian" Chinese, killed eight people and injured 22 others.
The man was armed with a knife and led the bus in Longyan city for a distance of 300 to 400 meters inside the human gathering, the official Xinhua news agency said.
Fujian province police identified the 38-year-old potential culprit from Longyan City and was arrested.
For its part, said the station (CCTV) television, it is possible that a dispute between the suspect and a local committee in the neighborhood is the motive behind the crime.
